Overview

The safari takes you to the famous Northern circuit parks with most of the time delegated to following and viewing the Great Serengeti Migration. This safari offers enough time in the Serengeti, so you that you can follow the paths of the ever moving herds without feeling stressed by time factor. Two nights in Serengeti will be spent in a tented mobile camp that follows the migration route. This way we ensure you have a front row to this spectacle. If you're a wildlife and nature enthusiast at heart, this trip is definitely one you don't want to miss! The trip starts and finishes in Arusha. The last day of the safari ends at the airport for your evening flight.

Detailed Itinerary of the Trip

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport - Welcome to Tanzania - The Trip of Your Lifetime!

Accommodation: Ilboru Safari Lodge or Planet Lodge or similar accommodation

Karibu Tanzania - Welcome to Tanzania. On arrival at the airport, you will be met by one of our staff members. After greet and meet services he will escort you to Ilboru Safari Lodge or at Planet Lodge in Arusha Town (approx. 60 Km). Make sure your camera is fully charged and ready for the adventure. Your dinner is included.

Day 2: Start the Safari on to Lake Manyara National Park

Accommodation: Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge Karatu or similar accommodation

After breakfast, you depart for Lake Manyara National Park (approx. 35 Km) with en-route views. Nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. A beautiful park, Lake Manyara contains a diverse range of habitats and topographical features ranging from the rift wall, ground water forest, acacia woodlands and open grasslands to the shores of Lake Manyara and the lake itself. Have afternoon game viewing in the park searching for the diverse flora and fauna of the park. There are some 350 different bird species in the park. The park provides sanctuary to a variety of animals such as the gazelle, impala, buffalo, wildebeest, hyena, baboon, giraffe, hippo and the famous tree-climbing lions that are unique to the Lake. The park is generally recognized for its incredible beauty. Accommodation is at Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge Karatu or similar. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park

Accommodation: Kenzan Tented Camp or Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar accommodation

The legendary Serengeti Plain is your destination today, a vast rolling plain whose sparse vegetation allows for some of the best wildlife viewing in the world. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra is one of the park’s great attractions, but throughout the year the Serengeti is excellent for seeing predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah, along with elephant, giraffe, hyena, hippo, rhino, and many varieties of antelopes and birds. You will enjoy a picnic lunch as you drive North of Serengeti. The evening is free to rest. Overnight at Kenzan Tented Camp or Kati Kati Tented Camp. All meals included.

Day 4: Follow the migration in Serengeti Ecosystem

Accommodation: Kenzan Tented Camp or Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar accommodation

Today you will leave after breakfast and with lunch packet you will drive as you follow the migrations paths depending on the location. We will spend the day following the great migration of about 1.5 million wildebeests and 500,000 Zebras migrating through the Serengeti Ecosystem. The adventure is full of packs of lions, cheetahs and other carnivores who are simply waiting for the right moment to strike on their prey. Crocodiles in Serengeti river show no mercy as huge herds cross the river. Thousands are swept by the arrogant waters and the scenes are amazing. Later in the evening, you will drive to Kenzan Tented Camp or Kati Kati Tented Camp for overnight rest. All meals included.

Day 5 - 6: Full days in central Serengeti plains

Accommodation: Kisura Serengeti Tented Camp or similar accommodation

The next two days you will enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing drives on the vast Serengeti plains. In the early morning and evening light, the Serengeti landscape is stunningly beautiful. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, including more than three million large mammals. The park is one that can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Kisura Serengeti Tented Camp. All meals included.

Day 7: Full day in ‘African garden of Eden’ Ngorongoro Crater

Accommodation: Rhino Lodge or similar accommodation

Today you will drive and descend into the crater (600 m) for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive Eco-system. Enjoy abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of the conservation area. These drives provide one of the best opportunities in Africa to view the rare black rhino, which tend to spend their time on the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. For lunch, enjoy a picnic next to the hippo pools on the crater floor. Continue with the game drive throughout the various ecosystems of the crater, including woodland filled with zebra and baboon, plains that support scavenging hyena and a lake that is tinted pink with greater and lesser flamingos. Other game that you can see includes leopard, cheetah, hyena, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals. Overnight at Rhino Lodge. All meals included.

Day 8: Walking to Ngorongoro Empakai crater

Accommodation: Rhino Lodge or similar accommodation

This walk begins with a drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) to reach Empaakai. You will pass through some of the most outstanding views in the Ngorongoro region. As you pass through Embulbul depression you will see herds of wildebeest or grants gazelle in the large grasslands that cover this depression caused by volcanic mountains. On reaching Empaakai, you will descend to the crater floor as Ol Doinyo Lengai looms over you. On reaching the floor of the crater you will walk around the periphery of Lake Empaakai. Flamingos are commonly seen. This is a great walk for the reasonably fit traveler. Later in the afternoon, you will drive back to the Rhino Lodge and the rest of the evening is free to rest. All meals included.

Day 9: Time to Say GoodBye - Village Nature tour (Biking/ Walking)!

After breakfast you will drive south as you say goodbye to this spectacular park. You arrive in the Mto wa Mbu area (close to Lake Manyara) where you will find your bike ready. With a guide you will start to cycle around the mountainous rugged village overlooking Lake Manyara; the topography is spectacular. At some point, you may encounter some wild animals like antelopes. There are a lot of bird species and a camera should not be forgotten. A picnic lunch packet will be served. If you wish you can also go for African delicacies near Mto wa Mbu. For meat lovers, this is the best time to try swahili barbecue (nyama choma). In the afternoon, you will drive to Kilimanjaro airport for your afternoon flight back home.
